Villers-Rotin

The linden tree "Le Sully"

This tree, planted in 1601, is the emblem of the village. It was planted at the request of Minister Sully for the birth of the (future) King Louis XIII. The young Napoleon Bonaparte used to sit under its foliage during his stay in the Saône Valley.

For a long time, the town took care of its famous tree. Unfortunately, it is no longer there because it had become dangerous for pedestrians and motorists.
