The Osage orange tree
The unusual tree is located along the railway line. This species, not widespread in France, belongs to the mulberry family and was imported from the United States in the 19th century.
It owes its name to the tangy smell of its inedible, orange-sized fruits, and to the Osage people (Native American tribe) who used the wood for their bows.
The Greenway
This fully safe route passes through verdant landscapes. The town also offers a nautical stopover on the Canal between Champagne and Burgundy.
The 224-kilometer-long canal crosses the Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions. It includes 114 locks and two tunnels.
