Talmay

Talmay Castle

This château, a listed historical monument, is a private property open to the public. The 7-hectare park, surrounded by water and featuring a formal French garden, is classified as a Remarkable Garden. The main building dates from the 18th century.

From the guardroom and the 13th-century rampart walk, one can admire the panorama over the wine-growing coast and the heights of the Jura.

Castle tours are scheduled at 14pm, 15:30pm and 17pm from July 1st to August 31st, Wednesday to Sunday. These are guided tours that last approximately 45 minutes.

The Ash Tree Chapel

It was built in 1748 to replace an earlier chapel, erected following the discovery of a sculpture of a Virgin hidden in the trunk of a tree.

For a long time, the fountain that flows a few meters away has been the site of important pilgrimages, as it is believed to be the source of miracles. The chapel is maintained by the Talmay Land Heritage Association.

The Saint-Vallier church

The building was constructed in the 18th century, preserving the old 14th-century choir and the 15th-century lord's chapel.

The church of Talmay was named in memory of Saint Valerius of Langres, martyred in the 5th century within the commune's territory. A piece of the saint's spine is said to still be preserved in the church, and a stained-glass window depicts the scene of Saint Valerius's decapitation.
