Magny Montarlot

The Church of Saint Peter in Chains

It was built to replace the old church of Montarlot, which was destroyed by fire in the 19th century. After this disaster, which destroyed several buildings including the town hall and the school, many residents came to settle in Magny-les-Auxonne.

But the village had no church. To build a new place of worship, some of the materials from the old, ruined building were reused. The neo-Renaissance portal and the grimacing gargoyles date from the 19th century.
